Unter dem Titel "Rauschende Ballnächte - unvergessliche Augenblicke beim historischen Kostümfest" erscheint am 4. Januar 2012 ein Artikel in der Ausgabe 1/2012 der "WohnenTräume", der auf Costumi Bezug nimmt und ein Foto von uns zeigt! Das Bild entstand während der Dreharbeiten zu einem Bericht des WDR über Costumi.

In der Bildergalerie könnt Ihr Fotos von mir, meinem Freund Jochen Schlüter und unserer Gruppe Costumi in Kostümphantasien sehen, inspiriert von der Kunst und der Mode des Barock und Rokoko. Der Schwerpunkt bei meiner Gestaltung liegt weniger bei der historischen Authentizität der Stücke, sondern bei der Neuinterpretation und eigener Phantasie. Zu einem kleinen Teil habe ich alte Theaterkostüme grundlegend umgearbeitet. Auch Fundstücke vom Flohmarkt oder dem Internet fließen in die Gesamtgestaltung mit ein. Hauptsächlich fertige ich aber neu an - nach historischen Originalschnittmustern oder frei improvisiert.
2009 habe ich zusammen mit einer ebenfalls Kostümbegeisterten, die wir in Venedig kennengelernt haben, eine Kostümfantasie zum Thema Asienmode/Chinoiserie im 18. Jahrhundert mit dem Titel "Die Reisen des Marco Polo" umgesetzt, mit der wir beim internationalen Wettbewerb um das schönste Kostüm "La Maschera più bella" den ersten Platz für uns entscheiden konnten. Sechs der acht Gewinnerkostüme habe ich gestaltet, siehe Foto oben: das zweite und vierte von links sowie die vier anderen auf der rechten Seite.
Besonderen Anklang fanden die Kreationen bei der Vorsitzenden der Jury zur Wahl des Schönsten Kostümes 2009, Kostümbildnerin Gabriella Pescucci, die für ihre Leistung für die Hollywoodproduktion "Zeit der Unschuld" mit einem Oscar ausgezeichnet wurde. Weitere Jurymitglieder waren der künstlerische Leiter des Carnevale di Venezia, Marco Balich, sowie der mehrfach Oscar nominierte Kostümmeister Stefano Nicolao, der u. a. für „Elisabeth“, „Der Kaufmann von Venedig“, „Farinelli“ und „Piraten der Karibik“ Kostüme anfertigte.
Auch 2010 war Stefano Nicolao Mitglied der Jury, und wieder gab diese uns ein einstimmiges Votum: dreimal grün! Schließlich waren wir unter den letzten Finalisten, aus denen der Gewinner ermittelt wurde: "Pantegane" aus England. Dafür erfuhren wir eine ganz persönliche Auszeichnung von Herrn Nicolao, als dieser nach der Prämierung uns aufsuchte um uns mitzuteilen, dass die Jury uns natürlich als Gewinner des Vorjahres erkannt hätte. Voller Anerkennung für meine diesjährigen Kostüme bedankte und verabschiedete sich mein Vorbild persönlich bei jedem von uns. Diese außergewöhnliche Begegnung trage ich als ganz persönlichen Preis in meinem Herzen nach Hause. Auch in Zukunft werde ich meinem Stil treu bleiben und mich und meine Werke in Venedig zeigen. Getreu nach dem Motto: Bei allem, was du tust, bleib immer du selbst!!!
2011 waren wir erneut im Finale mit "La famille Fabergé", angelehnt an die Juweleneier der russischen Zaren. Insgesamt hatte ich damals über 20.000 Schmucksteine und hunderte von Pfauenfedern für eine 4-köpfige Gruppe verarbeitet. Zu diesem Wettbewerb traten wir zu dritt auf. Da wir mit diesen Kostümen schon 2010 im Finale waren, wollten wir eigentlich nur spasseshalber an der Vorauswahl teilnehmen und freuten uns darüber wieder dabei zu können, obwohl wir von offizieller Seite wiedererkannt wurden. Die Jury aber wollte mehr von uns und zeichnete uns zu unserer Überraschung einstimmig mit dem ersten Platz für das schönste Kostüm aus! Die Auszeichnung teilen wir uns gleichwertig mit der Gruppe von Paolo und Cinzia Pagliasso und Anna Rotonai aus Rom, die eine Hommage an Venedig darstellt. In einer weiteren Kategorie zum Thema 19.Jhd errang ein Paar aus Belgien den ersten Platz, Lea Luongsoredju und Roudi Verbaanderd.
2012 traten wir mit einem neuen Ensemble an: "Teatime". Angelehnt an die Mode des späten 18. Jahrhunderts, die stark von England beinflusst war, bestückte ich die Kostüme mit Teekannen, Tassen und Tellern, bis hin zu einer komplett gedeckten wandelnden Tafel, die mit Silber und Petits Fours geschmückt war. Auch der im 18. Jahrhundert in England entwickelte Cutsteel-Schmuck, oder Stahlbrillant-Schmuck, fand reichlich Verwendung. Bei zwei Kostümen hatte ich sogar den kompletten Stoff von Hand nachcoloriert. Die Mühe meiner jahrelangen Recherche, des Sammelns von Accessoires und der Anfertigung der Kostüme wurde schließlich mit der erneuten Auszeichnung des 1. Preises für das Schönste Kostüm belohnt!!!
Damit habe ich nicht nur zum dritten Mal den 1. Preis gewonnen, sondern auch eine der weltweit größten Kollektionen von prämierten Kostümen des Venezianischen Karnevals angefertigt.
An dieser Stelle möchte ich allen danken, die über die Jahre an mich und meine Kreativität geglaubt haben. Ich bin unendlich glücklich und wäre ohne Euch nie soweit gekommen!!!

In the picture gallery you can see photos of me, my friend Jochen Schluter and our group Costumi in costume fantasies inspired by the art and fashion of the Baroque and Rococo. The focus of my design is less in the historical authenticity of the pieces but in my own imagination and interpretation. To a small extent, I have profoundly remodelled old theater costumes. Also, finds from the flea market or the Internet are being used for the overall design concept. All of my costumes are new - based on historical patterns or freely improvised.
In 2009, a costume fantasy about the Asian fashion/Chinoiserie in the 18th Century, entitled "The Travels of Marco Polo", was implemented along with another costume enthusiast we have met in Venice. With this piece of Art we won the first Prize in the international competition for the best costume "La Maschera più bella"! Six of the eight awarded costumes have been designed by me (see photo above: the second and fourth from the left and the other four on the right side).
Costume maker Gabriella Pesucci, who was at the head of the jury to select the most beautiful costume of 2009, was especially appealed by these creations. She has received an Oscar for her costume designs in the Hollywood production "The Age of Innocence". Other members of the jury were the artistic director of the Carnevale di Venezia, Marco Balich, as well as the repeatedly Oscar-nominated costume maker Stefano Nicolao, who created costumes for movies such as "Elizabeth", "The Merchant of Venice", "Farinelli", and "Pirates of the Caribbean" .
In the year 2010, Stefano Nicolao was once more a member of the jury. And again we received an unanimous vote: green three times! Eventually, we were among the ultimate finalists, from which the winner was determined: "Pantegane" from England. We experienced a "personal award" from Mr. Nicolao, as he approached us to tell us that the jury had, of course, recognized us as the winners of last year. He was full of appreciation for my costumes and thanked each and everyone personally for our participation. I take this unusual meeting home in my heart as a personal prize. In the future I will remain faithful to my style and show me and my works in Venice. True to the motto: In everything you do, always stay yourself!
We were again in the final in 2011 with "La famille Fabergé" which was inspired by the famous jeweled Russian eggs. Overall, I have used over 20,000 precious stones and hundreds of peacock feathers for a group of four. But we presented only three costumes in Venice this time. We only wanted to take part in the preselection just for fun as we have already shown this creation back in 2010. The jury however voted for us concordantly and we therefore won the first Prize for the best costume once again! We equally share this prize with the team of Paolo and Cinzia Pagliasso with Anna Rotonai from Rome. Their costumes formed a tribute to Venice. Best costume in the special category of the 19th century was won by a couple from Belgium, Lea Luongsoredju and Roudi Verbaanderd.
2012, we competed with a new ensemble called "Teatime". Inspired by the fashion of the late 18th Century, which was influenced by England, I applied teapots, cups and plates for the costumes, and made a walking table decorated with silver and petits fours. Cutsteel jewelry developed in England in the 18th Century found plenty of use. I even recoloured the entire fabric for two costumes by hand. The effort of my many years of research, the collection of accessories and the making of the costumes was finally rewarded by receiving the first Prize for the most beautiful costume!
This way, I have not only been awarded for a third time but also made one of the world's largest collections of award-winning costumes of the Venetian carnival.
At this point, I would like to thank everyone who has believed in me and my creativity over all the years. I am extremely happy and would never have come this far without you!
